VOLUMETRIC SOLUTIONS

Preparation of volumetric solutions requires great care and considerable time. This is the reason why analytical laboratories switch from their own prepared solutions to reliable manufactured products that save time and money. Scharlau offers two alternatives to simplify the preparation of volumetric solutions:

• Ready to use volumetric solutions
• Concentrated solutions in ampoules

READY TO USE VOLUMETRIC SOLUTIONS

It is our suggestion to totally avoid the time consuming preparation procedures of adjusted volumetric solutions. They are produced under ISO 9002 quality environment and are accurate and reliable. Accuracy and reliability are guaranteed by means of our analysis certificate that is provided with every bottle.

    For high consumption, we recommend our 10 l Cubitainer packaging. It is a cubic, stackable reinforced carton box that holds a polyethylene semi-rigid container inside. When liquid flows out, the semi-rigid bag folds into itself and no air comes inside. This avoids product oxidization. Cubitainer comes sealed with a screw tap/cap that provides an integrated and easy dispensing system. To open the Cubitainer, just tear by the pointed line and take out the tap/cap. It is ready to dispense liquid.

ubitainer is an ecologic container since the carton box is recyclable and the inner container can be incinerated.

CONCENTRATED SOLUTIONS IN AMPOULES

Each ampoule contains the precisely measured quantity of concentrate to provide one litre of ready to use volumetric solution of desired concentration. If it is required, it is possible to get different concentration-adjusted solutions by diluting to other final volumes than one litre (i.e. from an ampoule of HCl 0,1 N (ref. AC0742) it is possible to obtain 1 l of HCl 0,1 N or 500 ml of HCl 0,2 N).
To prepare a volumetric solution, the narrow end of the ampoule is placed on the neck of a volumetric flask. The upper plastic cap of the ampoule is used to pierce the upper plastic septum. This avoids using a glass rod that can be dangerous. By twisting the ampoule lower end, liquid flows down into the volumetric flask by gravity. The inner walls of the ampoule are carefully rinsed with water. Ampoule rotation during rinsing is recommended to allow perfect wash out. Finally, the volumetric flask is filled up to the mark and thoroughly shaken.
